I’m a certified math teacher, learning sciences researcher, game designer, grandmother, mother, and founder of Empower All Math Minds. Over decades in the classroom, I explored a wide range of teaching methods, technologies, and assessment strategies—always with the same goal: helping every child succeed in math.

But despite my best efforts, I saw firsthand how systemic barriers—standardized pacing, high-stakes testing, rigid curricula—limited what was possible. I realized that math success for all isn’t just about better tools in the classroom; it requires rethinking the entire learning system.

That realization led me to leave the classroom and pursue a PhD focused on the untold stories of education: how math anxiety, learned helplessness, and outdated approaches are holding students back—and what we can do to change that. My research combines learning sciences, instructional innovation, and equity-focused design to spotlight what truly works.

Empower All Math Minds is the result of that journey. It brings together hands-on math activities, game-based learning tools, and research-informed strategies that empower teachers, support administrators, inspire policymakers, and engage families. Our goal is simple but urgent: to help every child become a joyful, confident, and capable mathematician.
