About Dr. Bonni Jones
From Classroom Teacher to Learning Scientist
Bonni Jones didn’t leave the classroom because she stopped believing in teaching. She left because she believed in it too much.
For many years, she taught math in district, charter, and private schools. She integrated technology, piloted new programs, experimented with instructional strategies, and worked tirelessly to help every student succeed. She watched students light up when ideas clicked and she watched others quietly withdraw when math began to feel overwhelming.
The pattern troubled her.
Too many capable learners developed math anxiety. Too many teachers felt constrained by pacing guides and high-stakes expectations. Too often, instruction swung between memorization and exploration without integrating the two.
Bonni realized that empowering all math minds would require more than better lesson plans. It would require research, redesign, and systemic change.
She pursued a PhD in Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences to study the forces shaping math learning, teacher change readiness, gamification, math anxiety, and the conditions that support deeper learning. Her research blends cognitive science, classroom practicality, and human-centered design.
Empower All Math Minds is the result of that journey.
Through strategic games, manipulatives, and thoughtfully structured lesson guides, Bonni designs learning experiences where conceptual understanding and procedural fluency strengthen one another. Students don’t just memorize; they reason. They don’t just solve; they justify. They don’t just complete assignments; they build mastery.
Bonni’s background spans PreK–12 and higher education teaching, educational technology leadership, and published research on professional development and instructional change. She holds degrees in mathematics, computer programming, educational technology, and learning sciences, but her greatest credential may be decades spent learning alongside students.
She believes mathematics should be a space of confidence, creativity, and problem-solving, not fear, anxiety and passivity.
Empower All Math Minds exists to make that belief a reality.
Policy makers
We equip policymakers with compelling, evidence-based research that drives meaningful education policy reform—so every child has the opportunity to succeed in math. Our work supports a shift toward a growth mindset math learning environment, where all learners, regardless of background, can thrive and their efforts are rewarded high achievement.
Educators and Parents
For educators and parents, we offer a rich collection of research-backed methods, engaging lessons, and hands-on math games designed to empower every learner. These tools support math instruction that builds on students’ own thinking, enabling them to construct mathematical relationships, solve problems, self-correct mistakes independently, and demonstrate understanding in multiple ways.
Students
We champion strategic, creative play and flexible mastery pathways that foster deep understanding and spark joyful engagement. When students are given the tools and freedom to explore, question, and revise, they begin to see themselves for what they truly are: capable, confident math thinkers.
